2.5.1 Plate solve works, but SGP doesn't get coordinates

I’m trying the new 2.5.1 (2.5.1.0 and today the 2.5.1.14) version of your fantastic software, but I have a problem with the Plate Solving.
I use Astronometry.net o ANSVR local server and both solve the image, but SGP doesn’t get the coordinates and it gives as resolution RA 0.0.0 and Dec 0.0.0…
The log of ANSVR give these information:
[2016-05-21 14:55:34] JOBS/cal: jstr: {“epoch”:“J2000”,“parity”:1,“pixscale”:1.4
7163497135046,“radius”:0,“ra”:202.474532736,“orientation”:-81.9531390695324,"dec
":47.2027530312}

My system is a little netbook Asus 1005HA with Windows XP. I haven’t any problem with older version.

Maybe SGP is timing out prior to the solve completing. Can you attach both the ANSVR and SGP log?

Thanks,
Jared

Could you help me to find the log? I search it, but I don’t know how to get.
Meanwhile I attach a snapshot with an example of the problem

You can find the SGP logs under the “Help” menu in SGP.

Also you may consider upgrading from XP. As Microsoft has dropped support for XP we no longer can support it either.

Thanks,
Jared

Here is the logs. In the sg_log_1th_and_2nd_attempt.txt file there is the extract of the log related to a Astronomy.net and ANSVR plate solving attempts, for the local plate solving I have add also the ANSVR log.
The sg_log_full_astronomy_net.txt is the full log of the Astronomy.net plate solving.

For the Astronomy plate solving there is an error, but in the local one there are any errors.

I would upgrade it, but it is an old netbook and it works very well except the last version of SGP. I hope it is possible to address the problem and solve it in order to avoid upgrade that it could give me other problems.

I use the eqmod software 1.28k to control the neq6 with an eqdir cable.

sg_log_1th_and_2nd_attempt.txt (7.1 KB)
sg_log_full_astronomy_net.txt (25.4 KB)

Do you happen to have the full ANSVR log available? There should be some communication that goes back and forth between SGP prior and after to a successful solve. Just want to see how these are correlating. Also in general we prefer a full log. While narrowing it down can be helpful we’d rather just have a timestamp to go off of so we get the “whole story”.

If you’re wandering what we really like to see in requests this post helps to identify those things:

Thanks,
Jared

This evening, middle Europe time, I try to get the full ANSVR log. I’m not sure how to get it, but I’ll try.

For the Astronometry.net problem I attached in the previous post the full log (sg_log_full_astronomy_net.txt) with the whole story from start SGP to plate solve, where there are some errors.

ANSVR logs are in the folder

C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\cygwin_ansvr\var\tmp\platesolve\

Yes, that was helpful. Just need to see the rest of the “conversation” from the ANSVR side of things. SGP should be polling it fairly often to check status. I’d like to see if that’s happening and what it’s returning.

Thanks,
Jared

Thank you Andy for the hint, very usefull because it isn’t easy to find the log of ANSVR. In my XP computer the directory is little different:
C:\Documents and Settings<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\cygwin_ansvr\var\tmp\platesolve.

By the way I’m Giorgio, who translate PHD2 in italian

I got another session and create a full log for ANSVR and SGP.
As you can see in the picture attached SGP get the angle and the scale, but not the coordinates.
sg_logfile_20160524215647.txt (21.1 KB)
ansvr_2016-05-24_220255.txt (7.6 KB)

(I just upgrade ANSVR from 1.5.3 to 1.8.0)

Oh, hi Giorgio!

Giorgio,
Thanks for the logs! It at least lets me see that things are going back and forth ok. I wonder if this is something with the numeric conversion and language preferences. can you take a screenshot of your language preferences and attach them? I’m most interested in the number formats. here’s mine as a reference.

Thanks,
Jared

Also if you can test with the linked version and send me the log I would appreciate it. There is some additional logging around the ANSVR queries.

No installer. Just replace the Sequence Generator.exe (probably want to backup your current one)

Thanks!

My international setting is set to Italian:

I modified it to English (United States), but the problem persist.both ANSVR and Astrometry.net, I remeber you that in the previous version, 2.4.10, it works perfectly.
I try these evening the version with the extended log.
Thank you.

Here are the logs with the extended version of SGP.
I test it two times: one with italian (sgp_extened_log_italian_settings.txt) and one with english (sgp_extened_log_english_settings.txt) settings and in both ANSVR respond with the . as decimal separator.
I add also the ansvr log (ansvr_log_italian.txt
sgp_extened_log_italian_settings.txt (25.4 KB))
sgp_extened_log_english_settings.txt (24.7 KB)
ansvr_log_italian.txt (6.1 KB)

Thanks for the logs. That helps to isolate some things. Can you give this one a try. It still won’t work. Just trying to identify where the problem lies:

First of all, thank you to try to solve a problem with a obsolete operating system.
Here is the new log, here is the point:

Well that is not expected. So it looks like half the things are coming through?!

Does the online version work? It may be dying because of the “epoch” which we’re not expecting but apparently doesn’t cause problems elsewhere. I’ll add handling for that and send you another version this evening…

Thanks,
Jared

Also the online version doesn’t work, I upload in the post 6 a partial log where there are some errors (http://forum.mainsequencesoftware.com/uploads/db2508/original/2X/5/5837ccb4b1258e44b1fbe223d9c80625bf18779c.txt).
In the next hour I’ll make a new complete log with the test version of SGP.
