I have finished construction of an observatory, 11’ cube with Technical Innovations 10’ dome on top located in Taos NM, dark green site. So I am working on complete automation of my operations. Many of the features of SGP are very helpful in accomplishing this, such as the automatic Connect All Equipment when the sequence reaches its start time and starts the run. I have found several popup dialogs that may come up and halt my operation until I manually respond to them. Hopefully there is already a way to disable/autorespond to these that I have not discovered.
- Camera Temperature is not within 3 degrees of the desired temperature.
- Plate solve is too far off from the expected position of the mount.
- Mount is parked. Unpark it?
Any one of these completely defeats my automation process. I seem to get all of these regularly. Any way to disable them? Perhaps as a global Options setting called “Ignore non-critical warnings”.
Also a possible bug: SGP does not seem to be honoring the Stop time in the following scenario: Target 1: Start 8:00pm / End 9pm. Target 2: Start 9:00pm / End 10pm. At 9:30pm I run the sequence, it starts processing and runs Target 1, even though Target 1 is past its end time. This allows my mount to track into the mount limit position which then causes a sequence run failure.
Another possible bug: there does not seem to be any communication between SGP and the dome concerning the current position of the dome. It takes plate solve images while the dome is still rotating to the mount position, since the mount slews faster than the dome can rotate. Do I have to compensate for this by using a much larger Telescope Settle time? I am using the ASCOM Dome Control driver from Technical Innovations. This may, of course, be a problem with the ASCOM driver.
Also, is there any way to have SGP close the dome when the sequence completes, and open the dome when the sequence starts?
