Canon camera failure

A few days ago I attached for the first time and tested my Canon 60D camera with 2.4 Beta 3 and it all worked well. Yesterday, I upgraded to Beta 4. That night when I tried to use the camera, it connected OK, but when I first tried to take an exposure using frame and focus, I got a message “Canon: Error in EdsSetPropertyData (PropID_Tv 0x0C) error: EDS_ERR_DEVICE_BUSY” When I dismissed the message, I could hear the shutter open and close, but no picture was downloaded.

I then proceeded to do my imaging for the night using the program Images Plus.

I don’t recall that I made any setting changes in the camera, except for exposure time and aperture.

Today, I was able to reproduce the problem using SGP. Thinking that the upgrade to Beta 4 might be involved, I uninstalled SGP and installed the latest 2.3 version. The problem persists.

I am using fully patched Windows 7,

Here is the portion of the log file from Beta 4:

Problem found. I had been trying to use the camera in Manual mode, but with exposures longer than 1 second. In my initial testing, in daylight I had been using very short exposures, <0.1 second.

Reading the Help (always a good idea) I found in the page
http://www.mainsequencesoftware.com/Content/SGPHelp/SequenceGeneratorPro.html?Cameras.html
that “Bulb vs Manual Mode - If your camera has a dedicated “Bulb” mode on the Mode Dial then you should use this mode for any exposure over 1 second. Also exposures under 1 second are not reliable when using Bulb mode so if you require reliably timed short exposures then you should switch the camera to Manual.”

I tried this and now all is well.

Situation resolved.

Fred,
Glad you figured it out. We need to put out a better message than that. We’ll try to get that in soon.

Thanks,
Jared

I get same error with 5DMKII in bulb mode with exposures longer than 5 seconds.

Problem solved. It would seem that you cannot use the silent shutter setting. If you do, it will make the program think camera is busy. Please fix this. Using silent mode, plus mirror shake delay will increase the image quality by reducing any camera shake. Thanks.
