Andy,
What MountWatcher settings would you suggest for an AP mount? 5deg past meridian and 2deg CWup?
Hi Joel,
That depends on your gear. How far can you track past the meridian before you crash the pier?
Andy
With my scope straight up I can go about 50min past meridian until the
camera gear gets too close for comfort to the pier.
So that would be about 12 degrees. (50 min x 15 deg / hr)
Right, but which parameter will take precedenceā¦degrees past meridian
or CW up? If it doesnāt matter why have two parameters at all? BTW,
thanks for providing this. It will give me a bit more peace of mind.
The app has two states: ābefore meridian flipā and āafter meridian flipā. In the ābeforeā state it stops tracking at the meridian limit. In the āafterā state it stops at the CWUP limit. In that sense there is no notion of precedence between the two limits. You can tell which limit is currently in effect from the status messages. It will either say ātime to meridian limitā or ātime to cw upā.
The definition of ābefore the meridian flipā used by the app is:
ASCOM driver reports pierWest and scope is above the pole (HA <= 6)
OR ASCOM driver reports pierEast and scope is below the pole (HA > 6)
otherwise, it is āafter the flipā.
Andy
OK, now I understand. Thanks Andy.
