Conflicting manual rotator behaviour

I have everything set up and manual rotation used to work well. I ran into something I have never experienced last night.

When I started the sequence, SGP took its test shot and told me to rotate the camera 65 degrees counter-clockwise. I rotated the camera by less that this amount to make sure I would not over-shoot it. At the next test shot, SGP then told me to rotate 56 degrees clock-wise…? I thought “ok… I overshot it, better be more careful” and followed this new set of instructions taking great care to take a step-by step approach going clock-wise this time. On the third test shot, the instruction from SGP was another counter-clockwise turn by some 60 degrees…!!!

I decided to pull the plug on the SGP rotation-assistant then and did the rotation manually.

Any idea what could have been happening?

thanks

People will need logs.

Rotations in telescopes are tricky because the direction will depend on the number of reflections. Also rotating a diagonal can cause the image angle to change by twice the angle by which the diagonal is rotated.

I will get the logs.

I was not using any diagonal.

First time I ever see this behaviour.
