ISTM that one of the most important points in SGP is the relationship between the Equipment Profile, and the Control Panel. When I first started playing with SGP a few days ago, I was getting very frustrated because I was making equipment setting adjustments in the wrong one. The explanation for these two items is buried more than 100 pages into the documentation. If that was moved up to the very front of the documentation, it would have been a lot more obvious why I was getting confused.

I agree. It is one of the most common reasons for beginner confusion. It took me time and some testing to realize the behavior, which although well chosen, is not entirely intuitive.

Yup, I like the design; the “set defaults and then make changes for specific purposes” paradigm works well here, but it could be a little more obvious which is the default, and which is the special case.
