First, I have to say the auto focusing capability of recent SGP versions is working well with my 10" CDK. There is one feature I have thought about requesting.
Has star eccentricity measure as an option for autofocus quality goal been considered? I’m wondering if min HFR and eccentricity number could be combined into one metric during auto focusing. I can imagine the eccentricity computation would make the focus steps take longer. Maybe this could be considered as an optional mode if ever implemented.
Sometimes, the lowest HFR measure results in stars with higher eccentricity error (less round). Adding this measure could result in slightly defocused stars in order to minimize eccentricity error.
