Would be nice to have a wizard that would help determine in and out focus backlash settings.

Try during day and your eyes, some tape or some fixed points, you can easily test this. Even if you go over its ok as long as you go enough.
More info: Mark your focuser knob with some tape, try a course adjustment of 3 steps forward and then 3 steps back does the tape end up pointing at the same position.
