I use to have unreliable solves with local astrometry.net. However I updated from the 4200 to the 4100 series catalogues and the results are much better.
This improvement only applies to wide angle scopes and is documented on the astrometry.net website.
My setup is 1.5 arcsecperpixel and using a Canon 60D, so solves are with the 4109-4112 cats.
