This is my latest image, the Owl. The goal of this image was to see if I could get the very faint outer OIII halo. I’ve only seen a few other images with the halo present.
This started as a bicolor Ha/OIII image. I noticed that the 20min OIII exposures just started to reveal the no often imaged outer halo. So I added 45min OIII exposures (my longest yet) to bring out the halo. I also added SII data to make a more complete tri-color image. I’m not entirely satisfied with the color palette so I’ll probably try again.
