Nikon d7100 error [kNkMAIDResult_NotSupported]

Hi

I am trying to take a picture with Sequence Generator Pro v 2.5.1.17 in order to Plate Solve and Sync via the Control menu connected to a nikon d7100 and EQ6.

However Sequence Pro crashes with the following errors in the logs, this is for exposures both below and over 30 secs. Does anyone have any ideas why?

Hi

does anyone have any advice on this please? I have a few clear skies coming up which is rare in the uk so would love to get this resolved

@Anaida

I had some time to look through the logs you posted. I cannot speak exactly as to why the error occurs but I have some thoughts:

  • Nikon SDK support for this camera has not changed since March 17, 2016 so it’s likely not out of date driver files in SGPro
  • SGPro is throwing the exception when we try to set the camera’s shutter speed. This error should no longer crash the application (but does not fix your issue either)
  • I believe the camera is rejecting the request to set shutter speed because you might have bracketing turned on in the camera.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for that error has gone away now and the application does not crash.
However now after the image is captured the plate solving times out when it is Downloading the plate solve frame. the nikon d7100 is set to download a FITs file but not sure why its taking so longsg_logfile_20160914212025.txt (69.6 KB)

@Anaida
Can you tell us what you did to make that error go away?

You will need to download and use the SGPro 2.5.2 beta to address this issue. Your logs confirm it is the same issue that was fixed in the 2.5.2 beta.

I turned off the bracketing as you advised. Will retry plate solving with the beta release.

Hi Ken, I have tried with v2.5.2.0 and 2.5.2.1 beta however the same error occurs, timeout whilst downloading plate solve frame.

All other frames work? Like if you click “Take One” with an exposure time < 30 sec?

Also, do you have the logs for 2.5.2.1? The logs you supplied where from 2.5.2.0 which was a bad release.

yes i did try with < 30 secs at 15 secs same problem. I will get you the logs later in the day when i get home from work

Could this be a problem with the user permissions, on the computer, it says user “Admin” Not sure if this is part of the issue or trying to access the temp directory in %apdpata%

Admin you would think would have full access.

Maybe try creating a new user profile in windows from scratch and see if it works?

Yes looks like it is an access issue the appdata folder was hidden so I have made it unhidden and the problem has gone away. Next step is to try this out when it gets dark in a few hrs. Thanks all for your help.

I’m not sure if the hidden flag had anything to do with this… Mine and most everyones is set to Hidden by default.

Are you hooked up to a telescope or just a standard lens? Make sure your autofocus is set to manual I remember having done this mistake before.

The software crashes because it is not completely compatible with you camera. Thus, there are two main factors with which you can fix this issue. First one is upgrade the firmware version of yo camera. If you are new bie to this then take support from Nikon D7100 Manual. Second one is installing latest version of Sequence Pro.
