Platesolving and centering working but now can't slew

I could not center before, now I can but the scope will not slew to the target?

Why can’t the scope slew to the target?
Thank you for your help

According to this entry the target is at -14.10 so below the horizon. The target is not above the horizon to image

But the target is above, in fact it was at zenith, so one of the setup is wrong, yet 2 days ago, I imaged the same target without any issues?

Seems like maybe you have the wrong user profile selected or that that user profile contains an inaccurate lat / long for your location.

Yes Ken, you are correct, I created a sequence with the wrong pixel scale, and after changing the scale, but using my hydrogen-alpha image (with wrong scale) to create my oxygen-III image, it would not plate solved, because SGP was reading the scale from the image which was wrong. If I create a new sequence, all works properly.
And the profile was correct, as I always load the profile first.
Now, the new sequence was created in the afternoon, and at night, I got the error, target below horizon. My coordinates in my profile are correct.

I am not new at this, my scale error was due to changing my ccd recently, so that mistake was on me, but I was expecting that it would work without a glitch, once I changed the scale, but it failed. it failed because I suspect, if you use an image from an existing fit sequence, with the wrong scale, it reads the scale from that image, thus the bug. It should read from the camera tab, always.
Hope this make sense. Clear skies.

I am not understanding this. SGPro should ALWAYS believe the scale reported in the headers. There is no compelling reason that SGPro would assume the scale in the camera tab has anything at all to do with a FITS file opened from disk. Are you saying there is a bug in writing the wrong scale to an image?

Also, are you bouncing back and forth between 2 different issues or are you implying that the scale issues you are seeing are related to the failure to slew?

We will need more information to be able to help. Please send us logs, SGPro and OS versions and we’ll take a look.

Hi Ken,

Sorry, that night I had two different issues.

I got a new camera, kept the scale from the old camera, Imaged 4 targets with the wrong scale. When it was time to take more data, I could not plate solve as the scale I think was read from the fits header and not from the camera tab. I am assuming that this is where the bug is?

Hey, you may know that, I don’t. So I am just reporting this to you. I realise it may never happen again, so you do what you want with info.

Yes, the other item, the scope would not slew to the targe, and I don’t know why. I created a new sequence with exact RA dec, and the scope slew to that target.

This error, may have been caused by me, not sure.

Hope this helps.

Everything is working now, SGP is amazing! You should be proud of your software.

Cheers,

R

I am still not seeing a bug here. Perhaps I am missing something. The scale was in the FITS header and that is the scale SGPro populated the scale field with. Or maybe I am confused and that is not what you are saying? Why would SGPro use the scale of your camera for an image you opened off disk (especially if that image specifies its scale)? Also, you mentioned that image has an incorrect scale in the headers. Do you know how that happened?

yes, there is a bug, because the scale should be read from the control panel, in fact all information should be read from the control panel.
For example, you entered the wrong pixel scale, well, it will always read the wrong scale, because it pulls it from the image. In good standard, it should be pulled from the control panel. In fact, if you change any of the parameters, save in a sequence, but later change it in the control panel, say, for the next night imaging, well, the changes (made in the control panel) won’t be saved or accepted, it reads it from the original sequence setup, always… Why have a control panel, if you can’t change anything in the sequence.

Cheers
