Remote STi connections

I am a SGP beginner and I am working on getting my equipment profile completed. I have been using an SBIG STi camera on a 60MM guide scope controlled by PHD2 software. Now with SGP I selected “remote” for the guide chip and expect to click on “API camera” when PHD2 screen opens. Do I still connect the RJ11 cable from the camera to the autoguide port on my CGEM-DX mount?

This is up to you. Generally people get better guiding using Pulse Guide (not using the ST-4 connection (aka the RJ11 cable)). However you can set PHD to use on camera and use the cable if you want.

Thanks,
Jared

So if I select API guider instead of on camera, leave cable off, it will pulse guide? Thanks for responding and your assistance. Al J

For ST4 guiding you would setup PHD2 such that:
Camera: SGP API Guider
Mount: On-camera
Aux-Mount: Your Actual Mount (if you want, not required)

For Pulse Guiding:
Camera: SGP API Guider
Mount: Your Actual Mount
Aux-Mount: None

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks,
Jared

Yes, for pulse guiding you use the mounts Ascom file for control. Thanks, Al J
