Right at the start

I am setting up SGP to run my HEQ5 Pro Synscan with a Lodestar camera. I have run this with other software without any problems so I know everything already works. Today I have been trying to set up SGM bit by bit. The ASCOM interface is already there (as already proved with the other software). However, when I run SGP pro it crashes immediately on trying to see both the camera (Lodestar) and the mount. I don’t undersgtand how this can happen. Com-13 is the common point for both facilities (USB connection for Lodestar) and USB-serial adapter for mount - all known to work normally with other ascom software. FWIW the other software is completely disconnected.

I cannot get past square 1 if they won’t connect. Advice extremely welcome.

Well, I didn’t think that I would be replying to my own query. I connected up the hardware to a different laptop and installed the software. SGM sees both the HEQ5 Pro Synscan mount and the Lodestar camera so it is now OK. I will have to fault-find on the normal (observatory) laptop - but that is a different problem. Doesn’t solve the mystery of why Maxim DL works fine with the same set-up and yet SGP seems to throw a wobbly - but at least I can move forwards.

If you could post your logs that might be helpful.

Does this help? It is the (apparent) log of the connection failure. This is virtually the first phase of the connection.

BTW I could see any method of attaching a file.

Not really, try using drop box. It’s free

Are you using ASCOM drivers for your lodestar? Do you use ASCOM drivers in MaximDL? There are lots of differences between the two programs. I’m sure we can figure it out together.

Drivers:

Make sure you’re installing the appropriate ones for your particular system.

The failure you’re seeing above is the Good Night System. My guess is you don’t have it setup yet.

Hello again and thanks for your reply. Sorry about my typing error (I should of course have said I could not see’!).

I am doing another re-installation of all drivers including ASCOM and will report back.
