SGP and Metaguide

I really do want to use Metaguide with SGP, but…they don’t seem to like each other.

Here’s what I’m doing, step-by-step:

  1. Open MG. Connect Canon DSLR, then Orion AZ/EQ-G via ASCOM. (problem exists with mount simulator as well)
  2. Open SGP. Go through setup including MG being the auto guider of choice. I do NOT connect to the mount in SGP.
  3. Start test sequence.

Immediately upon starting the camera via the photo sequence, I receive a message from MG saying:

ASCOM connection problem: unknown

The crosshairs go from green to red in the MG simulator.

I have no idea what’s happening here. My processor occupancy spikes to 100%, then back down into the 80s.

This has been a several-night problem that I cannot seem to solve. Ideas would be most welcome.

I sure wish QHYCCD would bring back a previous broadcast driver. I’m thinking the processor occupancy might be the key issue, but I cannot control that. It sits at 1% when nothing is running, so it’s not background software as I’ve removed all of that via msconfig.

Thanks for your answer.

I suggest you post at:

This is dedicated to MetaGuide.

Thanks Peter-

I am working with Eric offline and I don’t think SGP is involved here.
