I was reading this thread on Cloudy Nights.
I was wondering if it would be possible to have a tool where after taking a picture, I can ask SGP to analyze the picture given:
gain
offset
ADC bits (12, 14 or 16 bits)
gain table (to convert e- units to ADU or vice versa)
read noise
(possibly other parameters)
and be able to see if the image got clipped in any way.
It seems like people have to take images with various gains and offsets with these new CMOS cameras (ASI1600mm like cameras) and do this calculation by looking at the image stats and tweak gain and offset again, take a picture, do calculations and repeat the whole process to get the optimal settings.
It just seems to me that this can be automated.
I am new to SGP - so excuse me if it is already available.
