Sequencing

This is, of course, at the core of our software. We have decided to simplify user input with respect to “events”. Instead of being forced to select entries from form elements, you will now be able to type events “free-hand” in more of a move toward a scripting-style entry system. In the image below, you can see 3 events. They basically hold the same information as before, you will just need to type them out now. The “dashes” at the end will signify event progress. This will also save on memory (form elements can eat more RAM that you might suspect).

Operating System Compatibility

During May 2015, we will be dropping support for Windows 7. Despite the fact that this is a known stable operating system, it shares the same core (kernel) as Windows 8. Because of this we have decided to port SGPro into a WIndows 8 “Metro” full screen app. It will be just as stable and have more of a fitted look with the Windows 8 OS and ideologies behind it.

File Naming Conventions

We will also be removing confusing abbreviations from file naming patterns. This will prevent you from having to use the “key” to cross-reference your name tokens. Now instead of a cryptic pattern like:

> %ft%tn_%el_%bi_%su_%fn

you will see this:

> %image_frame_type%image_target_name_%image_exposure_length_%image_binning_%image_user_suffix_%image_file_number

This should help to alleviate a great deal of support requests we receive concerning file naming conventions.

EULA

On May 1, 2015, MSS will alter the End User License Agreement (EULA) to indicate that any image taken wholly or in part by Sequence Generator Pro is the property of Main Sequence Software. This will include images created as a result of post-processing individual frames captured by SGPro. Images taken prior to this date will not be subject to this agreement.

It is too late in the day on this side of the pond to be still thinking about April Fools! Hands up - well caught

I took it seriously until I saw the changes in the EULA…

Maybe the SGP Devs instead of changing silly UI features, can add some important and useful features such as…

1. “Make rain stop” button
2. “Make clouds go away” button.
3. “Make clear night now” button

I have not been able to use SGP since the last upgrade…it is so frustrating. And no Ken… I do not have the logs. I am looking at the sky and the problem is acutely reproducible.

We’re currently working on a 23 petawatt laser that can be mounted by your scope. This will effectively vaporize the moisture in clouds and provide a “hole” for you to image through (provided you and your gear survive the plasma ball).

The electricity cost is a little much though. And you may need to pool a couple thousand of your neighbors to pulse it for a single second.
