My first attempt at M104

The Sombrero Galaxy has been a bit of a “white whale” for me, very elusive. I’ve always wanted to try and capture it but from 41deg north latitude the galaxy never gets above 37deg in elevation. I took the data for this image over 3 nights with very poor seeing conditions. The image has some problems, but I did the best I could with the data. The color data in particular was difficult to work with. But, overall I’m quite pleased with how it turned out!

Even from 30 degrees north, its a tough target. Very nice image!

Great image. At 51 N, maybe I just give up already.

Well done Joel.

Thanks guys. Buzz, its worth a try but I suspect 51 N is probably going to be tough for this target.
