Suggestion - What if there was an additional option for camera not yet at temperature - an option to allow everything else to run, but go into wait before any frames are taken?
This would allow centring and focus to run for example, but no collection of data until at nominal temperature. It might save 5-15mins of valuable dark sky imaging time and allow you to walk away (or start chatting!) a little sooner.
Another thought might be a maximum time to wait in this mode before giving up on reaching nominal temp.
