The user guide makes many references to ADU. What is it?

A lot of unnecessary blah blah blah if you read all the tech stuff 
but I see it simply as an indication of how dark my background is when I look at a sub so in general I try to get it as low as possible by either using light pollution filters or tight narrow band filters…

I agree that once internalized some of these technical things will not be necessary to focus on at all times. In my case it is going to be a while since every day it seems I am learning something new about the field of astroimaging. I think in the end I will be using trial and error to see what works for me on a given level of sky darkness (seeing?) condition, and I will learn how to relate with these numbers.

Big mistake…I’ve never stopped learning; I am surprised each day at my level of ignorance!
